Where people usually start

Most people arrive without the words for it.

They know something is off. We start there.

  • The same argument keeps coming back and neither of you can say how it starts.
  • You're holding a lot in, because saying it out loud would make it real.
  • From the outside everything is fine. Inside you're stretched thin.
  • You go over the same thoughts at night and can't put them down.
  • Something ended and you haven't caught up with it.
  • You're the one who holds it together. Nobody's asked how you are.

How it works

Here's the whole of it.

People put it off because they can't picture what happens in the room. Three steps, no surprises.

A free 15-minute call

Phone or video. You say a bit about what has been going on. I tell you whether counselling helps with this. If someone else would suit you better, I say that instead.

Your first session

An hour building a picture of what brought you in and what you want to be different. We go at the speed you set.

Then at your pace

Weekly at first for most people, spaced out later. We review it as we go. You decide how long this runs for.

What we work with

Three ways in.

Individual counselling

Anxiety, overthinking, burnout, grief. Or the stretch where you can't name what you're feeling, only that it's heavy. We slow it down until it makes sense.

What this looks like

Couples counselling

The same fight, on a loop. We work out what's driving it underneath, then practise saying the hard thing in a way your partner can actually hear.

90 minutes · S$220 · Gottman informed

What this looks like

Family and parenting

When the strain sits across the household rather than one person. An uneven load between parents. A teenager who has stopped talking.

Fee depends on who comes and how long we need

What this looks like

Who you would be speaking to

Ken Sim.

People come to me when they're stuck, either in a relationship or somewhere inside their own head. I'm fairly structured and I won't just sit and nod. Most people leave a session with something clearer than they came in with.

Before this I spent a decade in industrial and employee relations, mostly difficult conversations between people who didn't trust each other. Reasonable preparation, as it turned out.

I've got three young children, so the uneven load inside a household isn't a theoretical interest.

In their words

What clients have said.

Ken is professional, empathetic, and thoughtful. He listens to my issues without judgment and creates a safe space for me. Be it relationship problems, work related stress, or anger issues, Ken handles it with care and insight. I would recommend Ken to anyone in need of support.
Shamus, 28
Been counselled by Ken for a few months dealing with my work burnout and family issues. He has been a great guide accentuating some points, making me more self-aware in relationship conflicts and personal details that led to burnout and its recovery. At the same time, there is actionable advice too, so I feel there is always a takeaway from each session.

When you're ready

Start with fifteen minutes.

Long enough to say what has been going on and work out whether this is the right kind of help. If it isn't, I'll tell you.
